RESOLUTION NO. 79 - 110
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING THE
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE 1978 EDITION.
WHEREAS, Section 6.1 of the Gilroy City Code provides that
the latest edition of the National Electrical Code shall be submitted
to the Council to become effective within the City upon approval by
resolution, subject to possible modifications and amendments; and
WHEREAS, the 1978 edition of said code has been submitted
with modifications for Council approval by the Building Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COlmCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That the National Electrical Code, 1978 Edition, shall an-
ply to construction of all kinds in the City of Gilroy subject to the
modifications and amendments developed and recommended by the Gilroy
Building Department. They are to add to the respective sections and
subsections appearing in said Code prior to such modifications.
SECTION 90-8. PERMITS.
a. Persons to Whom Issued. Permits shall only be issued to:
1) Owners of single family dwellings.
2) Electrical contractors who are in compliance with
the State Licensing law.
3) Governmental Agencies.
b. Permit Fees. Any person desiring a permit required by
this Code shall, at the time of issuance of such permit,
pay a fee required by this section.

Add paragraph (f) to Section 300-1.
(f) All electrical wiring, with the exception of exclu-
sions provided for in Section 300-1 (a) and (b),
shall be installed in approved raceway for all
buildings and structures, other than residential
or apartment buildings.
Elimination of raceways required above for remodeling will
be determined by the Building Inspector unless otherwise required by
the 1978 National Electric Code.
