Resolution 1981-38 . . . RESOLUTION NO. 81 - 38 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY REGARDING NATIONAL EDUCATION HONTH. WHEREAS, citizens of the City of Gilroy and the Gilroy Unified School District have been working together as PROJECT CATALYST to fur- ther the educational goals of said District; and WHEREAS, it has been established that excessive amounts of time spent by students in television watching has an adverse effect on stu- dent achievement, and Project Catalyst has determined to minimize the influence of television on students and their families by designating one night per week as a family night without television; and WHEREAS, the month of April has been designated as National Education Month, and it would be educationally beneficial to students and their families if each Monday night in April be designated as "Turn Off T.V. Night". NOW, THEP~FORE, it is resolved by the City Council of the City of Gilroy at the request of Project Catalyst and to encourage the educational goals of the Gilroy Unified School District, that each Monday, in April, 1981, be designated as "TURN OFF T.V. NIGHT" PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of April, 1981, by the fo110w- ing vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: ALBERT, CilllNINGHAM, LINK, PATE, TAYLOR and GOODRICH.
