RESOLUTION NO. 81-73
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GILROY CALLING A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO
BE HELD IN THE CITY OF GILROY ON NOVEMBER 3, 1981;
REQUESTING SERVICES OF REGISTRAR OF VOTERS;
REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTION AND SPECIFYING
CERTAIN PROCEDURES FOR THE CONSOLIDATED ELECTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: A general municipal election is hereby
called to be held in the City of Gilroy, to be consolidated with
the County of Santa Clara Consolidated Election to be held on
Tuesday, November 3, 1981, to submit to the qualified electors
of the City the following question:
CITY OF GILROY MEASURE
"BALLOT PROPOSAL"
Shall the Gilroy General Plan be amended, renumbered
and indexed:
1) to add a policy that no industrial use shall be
permitted west or south of Uvas Creek, and
2) to delete the policy permitting compatible
industrial parks with high design standards elsewhere
than in "Industrial Park" plan areas, and
Shall land when annexed or added to the Gilroy Urban
Service Area west or south of Uvas Creek be zoned
Open Space until rezoned consistent with the General
Plan as amended.
Section 2: The City Clerk shall give notice of the said
election in accordance with law and to perform all other acts which
are required for the holding and conducting of the said election.
Section 3: The Board of Supervisors of the County
is hereby requested to order the consolidation of the
municipal election with the County of Santa Clara Consolidated
lj;lectiQn to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 1981, insofar as
the City is concerned, and to further provide that within the
territory affected by said order of consolidation, to wit,

the City, the election precincts, polling places and voting
booths shall in every case be the same, and there shall be only
one set of election officers in each of said precincts, and to
further provide that the questions set forth above shall be set
forth in each form of ballot to be used at said election insofar as
the same is held within the City. Said Board of Supervisors of
the County is further requested to order the Registrar of Voters
of the County (i) to set forth on all sample ballots relating to
said consolidated elections, to be mailed to the qualified electors
of the City, the questions set forth above and (ii) to provide
absent voter ballots for said general election and said general
municipal election, consolidated therewith for use by qualified
electors of the City who are entitled thereto, in the manner
provided by law.
Section 4: The Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized
to canvass, or cause to be canvassed, as provided by law, the returns
of said municipal election with respect to the votes cast for and
against said questions and to certify such canvass of the votes
case to the Council.
Section 5: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to certify to the due adoption of this resolution and to
transmit a copy hereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of
the County and to file a copy hereof so certified with the County
Clerk and Registrar of Voters of the County.
