RESOLUTION NO. 82 - 41
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY SUPPORTING IN-
DUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL GROWTH.
vJHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Gilroy has zoned,
pursuant to the General Plan substantial areas of the City, having
freeway access and the rail services of Southern Pacific Railroad
Company for various industrial uses; and
WHEREAS, Gilroy is a community stressing the concept of a
"balanced community" and. is proud of its progressive City; and
vlliEREAS, Gilroy has experienced growth and along with this
growth have some modern public facilities including a new sewer
treatment plant, golf course, water system, expended parks, recrea-
tion and a new City Hall; and
v~IEREAS, recognizing the need for industrial growth, the City
Council and Chamber of Commerce have created an Industrial Committee
and appointed qualified and knowledgeable citizens to the Committee
and to help and participate in the location of new industries in the
City of Gilroy.
NOW, THEREFOFE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council does
hereby declare, as a policy of the City of Gilroy, that an important
part of the concept of a balanced community, industrial and commercial
growth be continued and actively pursued to provide a sound economic
base for the further development of our City and does, further,hereby
pledge the cooperation of the City Staff and the Industrial Committee
to work with owners of industrial property, the Chamber of Commerce and
other interested persons to achieve this end.
