RESOLUTION NO. 82 - 51
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY SUPPORTING THE
BALLOT MEASURE OF THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY WATER DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the residents within the jurisdiction of the Santa Clara
Valley Water District, have invested over $150 million in our flood
control system of levees, channels, underground conduits and related
flood control facilities; and
vlHEREAS, the resulting flood protection to homes, schools, streets,
stores, factories and public facilities benefits every citizen; and
WHEREAS, we cannot afford to leave uncompleted ,solutions to the
significant flood problems which remain; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy is concerned that the existing faci-
lities be properly maintained and that existing developed areas not
suffer a reduction of storm-carrying capacity of the channels and pipe-
lines.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Gilroy does here-
by offer this resolution of support to continuing the benefit assessment
program to maintain existing works and provide flood protection to such
residents.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of April, 1982, by the following
vote:
