RESOLUTION NO. 82- 52
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
PROCLAIMING "SAVE THE TRAIN DAY", MONDAY, APRIL 26, 1982.
WHEREAS, groups uf local citizens have been working diligently
to obtain Cal-Trans' approval ofa daily train stop at Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, it is planned that one hundred (100) Gilroyans will
board the Spirit of California at the Gilroy Southern Pacific Depot
at 4:43 a.m. on April 26, 1982, and travel to the State Capitol to
present their case to State Cal-Trans officials; and
WHEREAS, the benefit of such an added transportation facility
will accrue to the general populace.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Gilroy City Council
hereby encourages concerned local citizens to participate in this
effort and, further, urgffi the State of California and Cal-Trans to
approve this daily passenger train service to our Community, and
hereby proclaims Monday, April 26, 1982, as "SAVE THE TRAIN DAY."
