RESOLUTION NO. 84-48
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
GENERAL PLAN FOR THE CITY OF GILROY
REALIGNING THOMAS ROAD AND ITS BRIDGE.
WHEREAS, after study and public hearing, the
Planning Commission has recommended amendments to the
General Plan for the City of Gilroy realigning Thomas
Road, Miller Avenue, Tenth Street and Thomas Road Bridge,
and
WHEREAS, the Council, after study and public
hearing, agrees in part with the recommendations,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council
of the City of Gilroy approves the realignment of Thomas
Road and its bridge as a four lane east-west carrier. that
Thomas Road and its bridge be of equal standards to Tenth
Street as a thoroughfare, and that the precise alignments
and intersections of Tenth Street and Thomas Road southwest
of Uvas Creek, of Thomas Road easterly from the bridge to
101 Highway and the cul-de-sac proposal for Miller Avenue
be determined after further study.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the Council finds that
any significant effects which are not mitigatable are outweighed
by the beneficial effects of the project for the accommodation
of vehicular traffic in the project area, and the provision
of urban services to adjacent area~ which are already approved
for urban development.
