East Wing 70 West Hedding Street San Jose, California 95110 (408) 299-2521 August 13, 1984 SOLID WASTE PROGRAM SANT A CLARA COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN PACHECO PASS LANDFILL AMENDMENT The Pacheco Pass Sanitary Landfill, a Class II-2 permitted site accepting Group 2 and 3 wastes, is located in a rural unincorporated area of southern Santa Clara County at the intersection of Bloomfield Road and State Highway 152. The landfill has been in operation since 1960 serving the communities of Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and unincorporated areas of southern Santa Clara County. The 60-acre expansion has received all necessary local approvals from the County of Santa Clara which has jurisidiction over the site and will provide southern Santa Clara County with at least 20 years of landfill capacity at the present rate of fill. The landfill is appropriately designated in the Santa Clara County Solid Waste Management Plan, but Section 17608 of the California Administrative Code requires an amendment to the County Solid Waste Management Plan for the expansion area. The expanded site is immediately adjacent to the presently permitted operation. This expansion is compatible with existing and anticipated countywide solid waste policies as well as State policies regarding suitable locations for landfills. Surrounding land uses are rural agricultural. The site is privately owned and operated by South Valley Refuse Disposal, Inc. CQS:ad adllswmpll2 Pac/lndF Icqs S) An Equal Opportunity Employer .. ~ . .
