RESOLUTION NO. 85 - 36
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
HONORING AND CONtffiNDING SERVICES OF
CAPTAIN MERLE JOHNSON, GILROY FIRE DEPARTMENT
UPON HIS RETIRE}lliNT
WHEREAS, Captain Merle Johnson has served the City of
Gilroy for over two and one-half decades; and
WHEREAS, Captain Johnson will be retiring after twenty-
six years of public safety service to his community; and
~~EREAS, Captain Merle Johnson served the City of Gilroy
as a Volunteer Fireman since 1959 and as an employee of the Gilroy
Fire Department since 1961; and
WTIEREAS, during his long period of service, always per-
formed his duties conscientiously, honestly and with the best interests
of the City of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, Captain Johnson has always been a helpful and will-
ing employee during his tenure with the City of Gilroy; and
.w~EREAS, the Gilroy City Council desires to take this op-
portunity to honor tffiRLE JOHNSON for his conscientious and faithful
service to the City and to the community-at-large.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council
does hereby commend and honor CAPTAIN MERLE JOHNSON for his loyal and
faithful service to his fellow citizens, community and country and
wish him continued success and happiness in all of his future
endeavors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of June, 1985, by the fol-
lowing vote:
