RESOLUTION NO. 85 - 66
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING THE
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE 1984 EDITION WITH MODIFICATIONS.
WlIEREAS, Section 6.1 of the Gilroy City Code provides that
the latest edition of the National Electrical Code shall be sub-
mitted to the Council to become effective within the City upon ap-
proval by resolution, subject to possible ~odifications and amend-
ments.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition, shall apply
to construction of all kinds in the City of Gilroy with the follow-
ing modifications and amendments developed and recommended by the
Chief Building Inspector.
1. Electrical work shall be done only by:
a. Owner occupants of single family dwellings.
b. Electrical contractors who are in compliance
with the State Licensing Law.
c. Qualified employees of governmental agencies.
2. All electrical wiring, with the exception of exclu-
sions provided for in Section 300-1 (a) and (b),
shall be installed in approved raceway for all build-
ings ar..d structures, other than R-1, R-3 and M occu-
pancies.
3. Elimination of raceways required above for remodeling
will be determined by the Chief Building Inspector un-
less otherwise required by the 1981} National Electric
Code.

That Resolution No. 84-18 adopting and amending the National
Electrical Code 1981 Edition is hereby rescinded.
That a copy of this resolution be kept in the office of the
City Engineer for examination by interested persons.
