i-ZESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING THE UNIFORH
Am=nnSTRATIVE CODE, 1985 EDITION WITH HODIFICATIONS.
WHEREAS, Section 6.1 of the Gilroy City Code provides that
the latest edition of the Uniform Construction Codes shall be sub-
mitted to the Council to become effective within the City upon approval
by resolution subject to possible modifications and amendments; and
w~EREAS, the 1985 Edition of the Uniform Administrative Code
has been submitted with some TIlodifications and amendments and recommend-
ed by the Chief Building Inspector for Council approval as set forth
below.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY that the following code, with the modifications set forth
below, is adopted and shall apply to all construction in the City
of Gilroy:
UNIFOR~/r ADHINISTRATIVE CODE
The Uniform Administrative Code, 1985 Edition, is adopted
with the following amendments:
1) Addition to Section 301(a) permits are also required for
retaining walls.
2) Delete Section 301(b)-1-(b) Fences not over six (6) feet
high.
3) Delete Section 30l(b)-1-(e) Retaining walls not over four
(4) feet in height.
4) Section 303(d) is amended by adding the following para-
graphs:
Every permit issued by the Building Official under the
provisions of the technical codes shall expire by limita-
tions and become null and void after one (1) year from
date of issuance of said permit. If the building is under

construction, before work can continue, a new permit shall
be first obtained and the fee therefor shall be one-half
(~) of the Building Permit Fee for the original permit,
provided no changes have been made in the original plans.
The Chief Building Inspector may require that all work
done after one year from the date of original permit shall
comply witn the latest technical or City of Gilroy codes.
5) Delete Table #3-E. Elevator Permit Fees.
6) Delete Table #3-F. Elevator Annual Certificates of Inspec-
tion fee.
7) In addition to the fees in Table 3A through H of the Uni-
form Administrative Code, the following fees shall apply
and be charged where applicable to off-set actual cost to
the City for the following services:
TABLE NO. 3-G--FIRE DEPARTMENT
1. Building Plan Check Fee
A Fire Department fee equal to 10% of the fee set
forth in Section 304(b).
2. Sprinkler System and Chemical Handling Systems Review
Fee
A Fire Department fee equal to the fees set forth in
Section 304(a) and (b), plus 10% thereof to the Division
of Builc:il:g Inspection for related services.
3. Microfilm Fee
A fee of $5.00 per sheet for cOITunercia1, indus tria.l a.nd
apartments.

4. Landscape Plan Check Fee
A fee equal to 2.1 times the hours required times the
top hourly pay of a park supervisor.

That Resolution No. 84-17 shall remain in full force and effect
with the exception of the reference to the Uniform Administrative Code,
1982 Edition.
That a copy of this resolution be kept in the office of the
City Engineer for examination by interested persons.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of January, 1986, by the
