RESOLUTION NO. 86 - 14
RESOLUTION OF THE GILROY CITY COUNCIL
HONORING RETIRED !lliMBER OF BOARD OF EDUCATION
GILROY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
SALLY CONNELL
HHEREAS, Sally Connell served as an exemplary Hember of
the Board of Education from July 1973 through November 1985 serving
over 12 years; and
~IEREAS, Sally Connell was chosen by her peers to be
President of the Board of Education in the 1976-76 and 1980-81 terms;
and
~~lEREAS, she worked unceasingly to provide the best educa-
tion for the youth of the City of Gilroy, giving generously of her
time and skills; and
vR{EREAS, she was instrumental in establishing new programs,
providing schooling to meet the needs of individual students, and
keeping the School District in the forefront of improvements in educa-
tion; and
WHEREAS, Sally Connell did this at a time of crisis caused
by severe funding cutbacks, and changes in society's lifestyles and
values which directly affected traditional educational concepts; and
\'JHEREAS, during her three terms she worked to construct a
new high school campus that is among the finest in the State as well
as improvements to other school sites; and
WHEREAS, she has also demonstrated her love for the com-
munity by her extensive volunteer work, giving her time and energies
to help both organized groups and individuals; and

vJHEREAS, as a long time Gilroy resident, wife and mother,
local businesswoman, and as a participant in service, charitable and
c~urch organizations, she has enriched community life in Gilroy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the
Gilroy City Council deem it fitting and proper that special recogni-
tion be made herein of the services rendered the entire City of Gil-
roy by one who faithfully performed public duty and was in addition
a very highly respected citizen always interested in the progress and
welfare of the City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of Harch, 1986, by the
