RESOLUTION NO. 86 - 24
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 43 ~mICH PLACES BEFORE THE VOTERS
OF CALIFORNIA JUNE 3, 1986 A BOND ~EASURE TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR
PARKS AND RECREATIONAL, DEVELOP}lliNT, RESTORATION, LAND ACQUISITION
AND OTHER RELATED PURPOSES.
vffiEREAS, the legislature of the State of California has
adopted and the Governor has signed the Community Parklands Act of
1986 which is known as Proposition 43; and
w~EREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly enhance our
environment and our lives; and
vJHEREAS, leasure facilities and open spaces in both urbe.11.
and rural areas are a necessity to life, since they have a substan-
tial effect on mental and physical health, economic productivity
and social problems; and
illiEREAS, Proposition 43 would place before the voters of
California a measure to provide financing of a program of acquir-
ing, developing, or restoring real property for local park and
recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, the proposed program will make available addi-
tional, or augment existing, recreational areas and add or improve
facilities in and near population centers; and
WHEREAS, enhancement of parks and recreational facilities
projects have a direct economic benefit to our community and the
state as a whole; and moreover, will benefit the health and well-
being of Californians.
NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that
the City Council of the City of Gilroy goes on record in support
of Proposition 43.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular T-eeting of the Gilroy
City Council beld on tbe 21st day of April, 1986, by the follow-
ing vote:
