RESOLUTION NO. 86 - 65
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GIL~OY HONO~ING ~t~RGE ALBAUGH
GILROY CHAMBER OF CO}~RCE 1986 WONAN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce at their recent Annual
Meeting and Awards Dinner selected Marge Albaugh as the receipient of
the 1986 Woman of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions to the
Gilroy community; and
tffiEREAS, }1arge Albaugh was the founder of the Hadas Madrinas
Guild of the Crippled Children's Society of Santa Clara and was instru-
mental in the development of the Speech-Hearing-Learning Center in
Gilroy, and held several offices in the Society, including Guild Pre-
sident; and
WHEREAS, Marge Albaugh was the co-founder of Neighbors, an organi-
zation of twenty-one churches and charitible organizations that, through
her efforts, work together to provide a united program of services to
the needy; and
WHEREAS, ~1arge Albaugh is now the Executive Director of St.
Joseph's Welfare Center, a position that requires in excess of 40 hours
a week of volunteer time and is responsible for the development of many
new, innovative programs designed to berefit the needy of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, Marge Albaugh pursues her goal of helping the needy with
courage and determination, providing to the co~~unity a fine example of
the Christian spirit at work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of
Gilroy that it does hereby unanimously coromend and acknowledge Marge
Albaugh as 1986 Woman of the Year of the City of Gilroy.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of October, 1986, by the follow-
ing vote:
