RESOLUTION NO. 90-63
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AFFIRMING THAT THE SHAPELL PROJECT WILL NOT BE
BUILT WITHOUT ADEQUATE SEWAGE CAPACITY
WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission
(LAFCO) expressed concern as to adequate sewage treatment and
capacity for the Shapell project southwest of Gilroy during
a recent LAFCO hearing on the Shapell Urban Service Area
request, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy wishes to
assure LAFCO that development of the Shapell project will not
occur without adequate provision for sewage treatment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Gilroy will not permit the Shapell project to be built
without adequate provision for sewage treatment, either by
increased capacity of the Gilroy-Morgan Hill treatment plant,
by a satellite treatment plant for the Shapell project or by
some other similar method.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of August 1990 by the
following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEHBERS: GAGE, HALE, KLOECKER, MUSSALLEM,
NELSON, VALDEZ. and HUGHAN
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
