RESOLUTION NO. 91 - 40
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE 1990 EDITION WITH MODIFICATIONS
WHEREAS, Section 6.1 of the Gilroy City Code provides that the latest
edition of the National Electrical Code shall be submitted to the Council to become
effective within the City upon approval by resolution, subject to possible
modifications and amendments.
NOW s THEREl!'ORE, THE CITY COUBCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
That the National Electrical Code, 1990 Edition, shall apply to
construction of all kinds in the City of Gilroy with the following modifications
and amendments developed and recommended by the Chief Building Official.
1. Electrical work shall be done only bJ:
a. Owner occupants of single family dwelllings.
b. Electrical contractors who are in compliance with the State
Licensing Law.
c. Qualified employees of governmental agencies.
2. All transformers shall be installed in an open, accessible and visible
area except signaling and ballast type transformers.
That Resolution No. 85-66 adopting and amending the National Electrical
Code 1984 Edition is hereby rescinded.
That a copy of this resolution be kept in the office of the Chief Building
Official for examination by interested persons.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of July, 1991, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: HALE, KLOECKER, MUSSALLEM, NELSON, VALDEZ and
HUG BAN .
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBER: GAGE
