RESOLUTION NO. 93 - 26
A RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY HONORING
PATRICIA HOLIHAN STEINHARDT FOR HER WORK WITH THE ARTS COUNCIL OF SANTA CLARA
COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Patricia Holihan Steinhardt has served for five years as
Executive Director of the Arts Council of Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure she has brought the Arts Council of Santa
Clara County up from the bottom third of all county arts agencies to the top three
in the state, receiving the highest possible rating from the California Arts
Council for three years in a row; and
WHEREAS, "Trish" has made many trips to Gilroy to meet with the City's
Library and Culture Commission, and various community arts groups such as the
Gilroy Foundation, the Gavilan Arts Association, the South Valley Civic Theatre,
the South Valley Symphony, and the Gilroy Downtown Development Corporation, and as
a result, South County arts organizations regularly compete successfully for
financial support from the Arts Council; and
WHEREAS, Trish increased support and exposure for Gilroy visual artists
by leading the way for the Arts Council to reach beyond Santa Clara County to co-
sponsor the Gavilan District Open Studios with the San Benito County Arts
Commission; and
WHEREAS, Trish will be greatly missed as she leaves her position on June
lS, 1993, and moves with her family to Seattle.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby commends
Patricia Holihan Steinhardt for her work with the Arts Council of Santa Clara
County; and that this resolution be presented to her at her farewell event on June
14, 1993 in San Jose.
