RESOLUTIOR RO. 94 - 46
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY OF ENDORSEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR THE
SANTA CLARA COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AGENCY TRANSIT SHELTER ADVERTISING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Transportation Agency (TA) owns and
maintains transit shelters throughout the County of Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for additional high quality, well maintained
illuminated shelters serving TA bus and rail routes; and
WHEREAS, TA does not have the financial resources to construct additional
shelters; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance of existing shelters is expensive and contributes
to the constrained financial condition of TA; and
WHEREAS, TA developed the Transit Shelter Advertising Program which
includes entering into an agreement with a qualified company to install and
maintain shelters in exchange for the right to sell and use specified portions of
the shelters' exterior panels for commercial advertising space.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Gilroy endorses and
supports the TA Transit Shelter Advertising Program, which includes the
installation and maintenance of transit shelters with commercial advertising space;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this endorsement shall be effective for the
duration of the TA Transit Shelter Advertising Program, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that TA and City will cooperate to implement the
Transit Shelter Advertising Program, including the issuance of any necessary
permits in a timely manner; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that TA and City staffs will develop a cost
reimbursement plan necessary to cover reasonable and normal expenses incurred by
the City to implement the Transit Advertising Shelter Program.
