Resolution 1994-71 -....;. ~ ....-.-- . . -( RESOLUTION NO. 94 - 71 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY IN SUPPORT OF MEASURE A - KEEP COMMUNITY LIBRARIES OPEN. WHEREAS, the Gilroy Library is a necessary and valuable facility of the Santa Clara County Library System; and WHEREAS, library public access hours have been cut by 13 hours per week, bulk and material budgets have been cut by 67% and children's programs have been cut by 69%; and WHEREAS, Measure A on the November 8th ballot will restore all of these services to 1991-92 levels across the County Library System; and WHEREAS, Measure A would increase Gilroy Library hours from 32 to 56 hours per week, increase access from 5 days to 6 days and increase book and materials budget from $48,000 to $166,00 per year; and WHEREAS, Measure A has received bi-partisan support as well as tremendous backing from business people, educators, organized labor and active citizens; and WHEREAS, Measure A will only cost homeowners $2.75 per month. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Gilroy City Council hereby supports the approval of Measure A on the November 8, 1994 ballot and strongly urges the citizens of Gilroy to support this Measure by casting a "YES" on MEASURE A vote on November 8, 1994. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of September, 1994, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: GILROY, KLOECKER, MORALES, ROGERS, ROWLISON, VALDEZ and GAGE.
