RESOLUTION NO. 97 - 1
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ESTABLISHING 1996 - 1997
SALARY SCHEDULES FOR GILROY FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 2805.
WHEREAS, the City Council does establish salaries for city officers and
employees by resolution; and
WHEREAS, A Memorandum of Understanding currently has been negotiated between
the City and the bargaining units for FIRE LOCAL 2805 at a salary increase of Three
percent, retroactive to July 1, 1996; and Two percent effective November 1, 1996;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the salaries for 1996 for the Gilroy
Firefighters' Association personnel as set forth in the attached schedules
consisting of two (2) pages, is hereby approved and established and effective on
July 1, 1997.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of January 1997, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: GILROY, MORALES, ROGERS, ROWLISON, SPRINGER,
VALDEZ and GAGE.
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None

Fire shift personnel receive 6.37% of base pay in lieu of holidays. Hourly rate for 40 hour week is based on base
divided by 173.33. Hourly rate for 56 hour week is based on base divided by 242.48.
3.5% Educational Incentive available for thirty (30) college semester units or 5% Educational Incentive available for
sixty (60) college semester units.
2.5% increase of base pay for possession of the EMT -1 or the EMT -D Certificate.
Uniform allowance of$670 per year, paid between July 1 and July 15.
Bi-Iingual pay of 2.5% of base per Fire Chiefs approval and test.
1 % increase in base pay for employees obtaining through the State Board of Fire Service "Fire Officer Certification".
(Maximum educational benefit total: 7.5%)
