Resolution 1997-42 .. . . RESOLUTION NO. 97-42 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING AN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POLICY STATEMENT WHEREAS, federal law requires that federal contractors have equal employment opportunity policies; WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy desires to be eligible to be a federal contractor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Gilroy adopts the following statement: EOUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POLICY STATEMENT It is the continuing policy of the City of Gilroy ("Gilroy") to provide equal employment opportunity and a work place free from sexual harassment to all persons regardless of race, color, religion, gender, mar'i tal status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or other non-meri t factors. Gilroy intends to remove barriers to employment and promotion of minorities, women, disabled persons, and veterans, to the extent that such barriers are not bona fide occupational qualifications. Gilroy's City Administrator or his or her designee is directed to oversee, administer and implement this Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement.
