RESOLUTION NO. 2002-82
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY AUTHORIZING THE USE OF
THE "ADVANCE CONSTRUCTION AUTHORIZATION' PROCESS TO
PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE II OF THE MONTEREY
STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT USING CITY FUNDS TO
COVER PROJECT EXPENSES UNTIL FEDERAL REIMBURSEMENT
FUNDS BECOME AVAILABLE
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy has been awarded $1,474,000 by the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission (MTC) Transportation for Livable Communities (TLC)
program to continue streetscape improvements along Monterey Street from Sixth Street
to Seventh Street - Monterey Streetscape Improvement Project, Phase II; and
WHEREAS, Federal funds are not available currently for obligation but may be
anticipated with future budget or administrative actions; and
WHEREAS, if a local agency wishes to proceed with its own funds and stilI
establish an eligibility date for future reimbursement when Federal reimbursement funds
become available, it may use the "Advance Construction Authorization" process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Gilroy that the City of Gilroy is authorized to proceed with the construction of Monterey
Streetscape Improvement Project, Phase II under the "Advance Construction
Authorization" process using City funds to cover proj ect expenses until Federal
reimbursement funds become available.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution will be transmitted
to Caltrans, District 4, Office of Local Assistance.
