Resolution 2003-77 RESOLUTION NO, 2003-77 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ADOPTING THE CITY OF GILROY BICYCLEIPEDESTRIAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN AND COMMITTING THE REQUIRED TEN PERCENT (10%) LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS AS REQUIRED BY CALTRANS FOR THE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT (BTA) 2004/05 GRANT FUNDING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account ("BT A") provides State funds for city and county projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and WHEREAS, the program is administered by the California Department of Transportation ("Caltrans") through the Sacrament Bicycle Facilities Unit; and WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy will be submitting to Caltrans a grant application for the fiscal year 2004/2005 BTA grant funding program; and WHEREAS, this grant funding will cover 90 percent of design and construction costs; and WHEREAS, to qualify for consideration of funding under the BTA, the City Council must commit to provide ten percent (10%) local matching funds for City projects funded by the BTA; and WHEREAS, a requirement of the grant application is to have a current Bikeway Transportation Plan approved by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the Gilroy BicycleIPedestrian Transportation Plan has been approved by the City Council and incorporated into the approved City of Gilroy 2002-2020 General Plan, NOW, THEREFORE IT BE RESOL YED by the City Council ofthe City of Gilroy that: (1) The City Council approves the following project list: A. Class I Bikeways 1, South Santa Teresa Trail: east side of Santa Teresa Boulevard from First Street south to the Gavilan College parking lot entrance, 2, DebelVUvas Creek Park Trail: from Santa Teresa Boulevard west (upstream) to Hecker Pass Highway-Highway 152 3, Ronan Channel Trail: from Sixth Street east to Llagas Creek B. Class III Bike Routes 4, Welbum Avenue from Wren Avenue to Monterey Road 5, First Street from Santa Teresa Boulevard to Monterey Road 6, Monterey Road from Leavesley Road to Tenth Street 7, Wayland Lane from First Street to W elbum Avenue 8, Sixth Street from Forest Street to Maple Street RESOLUTION NO, 2003-77 -1- (2) The City Council hereby adopts "The City of Gilroy Bicycle/Pedestrian Transportation Plan," (3) The City Council hereby commits ten percent (10%) local match of funds for City projects that become funded through the BT A.
