Resolution 2008-40 RESOLUTION NO. 2008-40 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY IN SUPPORT OF MEASURE P ON THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008 BALLOT Whereas, Measure P is a general obligation bond on the November 4 ballot, authorizing $150 million for school improvements for each of our District schools, and; Whereas, the passage of Measure P will allow the District to be eligible to receive State- matching funds to repair, modernize and upgrade classrooms throughout the District as available; and; Whereas, in 2004 voters approved a school bond measure, Measure I, addressing many but not all of the District's existing facility needs, also funding the purchase ofland for Christopher High School and the first phase of construction on this site; and; Whereas, the District must address current facility needs, complete construction at Christopher High School to relieve overcrowding at Gilroy High School, and plan for the future which will include building new schools; and; Whereas, the City Council of the City of Gilroy wishes to support this measure going on the November 4, 2008 ballot. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Gilroy hereby endorses Measure P, placed on the November 2008 general election ballot.
