AN ORDINANCE OF INTENTION OF THE CITY OF GILROY TO PHOCEED UNDER
THE STREET VACATION ACT OF 1941 AND VACATE CERTAIN STREETS AND
ALLEYS m THE JORDAN SCHOOL AREA OF THE CITY 0:8' GILROY.

THE WJAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY having
determined that certain streets and alleys hereinafter described
.
are no longer necessary for present or prospective public street
and alley use, and desiring to proceed under the authority of the
Street Vacation Act of 1941 to vacate and abandon such streets and
alleys, DO ORDAllT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Proceedings shall be initiated for the vacation
and abandonment of the following described streets and alleys within
said city:
a. All of Dowdy street (75 feet wide) between the Southerly
line of First street and the Northerly line of Third street.
b. All of Second Street t~ feet wide) between the Easterly
line of Carmel Street and the projection Northerly of the Westerly
line of the alley in Block 4 North, Range 5 West; and the Southerly
30.00 feet of Second Street between the Westerly line of Hanna
Street and said projected alley line.
c. All of the alley (20 feet wide) in Block 4 North, Range
5 West.
d. All of the alley (20 feet wide) in Block 4 North, Range
6 West.
e. All of the alley (20 feet wide) in Block 5 North, Range
6 West.
Reserving and excepting therefrom permanent easement to the
City of Gilroy to enter upon at any time, or from time to time, and
pursuant to exist:1ng franchises or renewals thereof, or otherwise,
to construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove, and renew all
existing, or future utilities, as may be required over, on, across,
or under the alley in Block 4 North, Range 5 West, and Second
Street, as the same are hereinabove described.
Reference is hereby made to the maps of the Miller and Lux
and Clayton & Co. additions to the City of Gilroy which are on
file with the Clerk of the City of Gilroy.

SECTION 2:' This Ordinance shall be published, and said
streets and alleys posted as required in said street Vacation ~ct
of 1941, and the 4th day of May, 1948, at 8:30 o'clock P.M., at
the City Hall, Gilroy, California, is designated as the time and
place at which said Common Council shall hear any and all evidence
offered by any persons interested in the proceedings.
