AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 480 OF ~AID
CITY REGULATING TRABFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF GIIROY
BY REGULATING THE SPEED OF VEHICLES UPON LEA VESLEY ROAD BE'l't1!J!iN MONTEREY
STREET AND MURRAY AVENUE.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GIIROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLCWS:
Section 1: Ordinance No. 480 of the City of Gilroy commonly
designated as the Traffic Ordinance is hereby amended by adding a
new section thereto to be known as Section 73 to read as follows:
Section 73. When authorized signs are in place as herein set
forth giving notice thereof no person shall drive or operate any
vehicle on that public street in the City of Gilroy known as the
Leavesley Road between Monterey Street and Murray Avenue at a speed
in excess of thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
Section 2. Traffic signs shall be erected along the northerly
side of said Leavesley Road 150 feet East of the Easterly line of
Murray Avenue giving notice to westbound traffic that the speed limit
on said Leavesley Road is thirty-five (35) miles per hour and a similar
sign shall be erected on the southerly side of Leavesley Road 50 feet
East of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company right of way notift1ng
Eastbound traffic that the speed limit on sa1d Leavesley Road is thirty-
five (35) miles per hour.
Section 3. The Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Gilroy
is hereby directed to cause the said signs to be placed and erected in
accordance with the provisions of Section 2 of this Ordinance.
Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
This Ordinance shall be in effect as soon as the said signs are
placed in accordance with the provisions of Section 2 of this Ordinance.
