ORDINAlCE AMENDING SECTION (5) OF ORDINANCE NO. 4-74 OF THE CITY
OF GILROY, PROVIDING FOR THE CONTROL OF INSTALIATION OF CURB,
GUTTER, SIDEWALK, AND MISCELLANEOUS CONCRETE WORK WITHIN THE
PUBLIC STREETS OR THOROUGHFARES OF THE CITY OF GILROY, BY
RESTRICTING THE SAID CURBS AND 'GUTTERS TO THE STANDARD TYFE,

ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION Is That Section 5 or Ordinance No. 4-?4- of the City
of Gilroy shall be, and is hereby, amended to read as follows:
Section 50 ~lans and Materialso
All work covered by this ordinance will be constructed in
accordance with plans furnished by the City Engineer of Class
"An concrete, as defined by the Standard Specifications 0- Curb,
gutter, and sidewalk will be constructed in conformance with

Sections 4-3 and 4-4- of the Standard Specifications; provided,
however, that all curbs and gutters shall be of the type known
as Standard and not the rolled type. All gutters shall be 24-
inches wide from the face of the curb; valley gutters at inter-
sections shall be a minimum of six (6) feet in widtho Deviations
from these standards shall not be made without the specific ,app~eval
afhthe'engineer. The engineer may approve creek-run material and
concrete for certain classes of work where the source and handling
of the work is approved by himo
The minimum strength requirement for any concrete installed
within the scope of this ordinance shall be 2000 lbs. per
square inch after 28 days when tested in a laboratory designated
by the Engineer. samples for testing will be taken by the
Engineer or Inspector at such times as deemed necessary by the
Engineer to control the quality of the worko Conc~ete failing
to meet the strength requirement shall be removed upon order
of the Engineero
