AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING ORDINANCE NOo
494 OF THE CITY OF GILROY BY INCREASING THE RATE OF SALES
TAX AND USE TAX FROM ONE-HALF OF ONE PER CENT TO ONE PER
CENT.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIDN,n Section (1) of Ordinance 494 of the
City of Gilroy is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1. IMPOSITION J.W. IiW .Q.f W. For the
privilege of selling tangible personal property
at retail a tax is hereby imposed upon all re-
tailers at the rate of one per cent (1%) of the
gross receipts of any retailer from the sales of
all tangible personal property sold at retail
in the City of Gilroy on or after January 1st,
1956, The license tax imposed by the provisions
of this ordinance is in addition to any and all
other taxes imposed by any other ordinance of
the City of Gilroy.
SECTION II: Section (2) of Ordinance 494 of
the City of Gilroy is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 2. USE IAI. For the privilege of using
or otherwise consuming in the City of Gilroy
tangible personal property purchased from any
retailer, a tax is hereby imposed upon every
person using or otherwise consuming such tangible
personal property in the City of Gilroy, at the
rate of one per cent of the sales price of the
property purchased on or after January 1st, 1956.
The license taxes imposed by the provisions of
this ordinance are in addition to any and all
other taxes imposed by any other crdinance of
the City of Gilroy.
SECTION 111: All ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV: This ordinance shall take effect and be
in full force from and after the first day of January, 1956.
