Ordinance 537 ,.-- I I ORD INANCE NO. 537 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GIlROY ~illNDING ORDINA~E NO. 480 OF 'rHE CITY OF GILROY, BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE THERETO, DESIGNATED AS ARTICLE VI-l/2, PROVIDING FOR AND DESCRIBING YlELD RIGHT OF WAY INTERSECTIONS, A ND THE PLACING OF YIEID RIGHT OF ldAY SIGNS 0 THE MAYOR AND COl,JMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Ordinance Noo 480 of the City of Gilroy, commonly known as the Traffic Ordinance, is hereby amended by adding a new Article, to be known as Article VI-l/2, and Subdivisions thereof, to read as follows: ARTICIE VI-l/2 SPECIAL YIELD RIGHT OF WAY REQUIRED Section 32.1. Chief Administrative Officer 12 erect Yield Right of ~ Signs. Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and described any intersection at which vehicles are required to yield the right of way at one or more entrances thereto in accordance with Section 55001 of the Vehicle Code, the Chief Administrative Officer shall erect and maintain yield right of way signs as follows: A yield right of way sign shall be erected on each and every street at those entrances to intersections where a yield right of way is requiredo Every such sign shall conform with and be placed as provided in Section 47101 Section 32.20 Yield Right Q! ~ s1 Yield right Q! way llm. (a) The provisions of this section shall apply at one or more entrances to the intersections as such entrances and intersections are described in Section (2) of this ordinance 0 (b) When yield right of way signs are erected as herein provided at the entrance to any intersection) every driver of a vehicle shall control such vehicle as required by section 55001 of the Vehicle Code. SECTION II: Said Ordinance No. 480 of the City of Gilroy is hereby amended by adding a new section thereto designated as section 7101, to read as follows: Section 7101 Yield Ri~ht Qf Way Intersections. In accordance with Section 32(b) of the said Ordinance Noo 480 set forth in Section I of this Ordinance and when yield right of way signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles shall yield the right of way at the entrance or entrances of those intersections as follows: ~3.7 (~ 1. On Railroad Street at the north and south entrances to Martin Street, yielding the right of way to other vehicles which have entered the intersection from Martin Street or which are approaching so closely on Martin Street as to constitute an immediate hazard. 2. On Forest Str~et at north and south entrances to Lewis Street, yielding the right of way to other vehicles which have entered the intersection from Lewis Street or which are approaching so closely on Lewis Street as to constitute an immediate hazard. SECTION III: Efrective date. This ordinance shall take efrect and be in full force and efrect from and after its passage and approval.
