ORDINANCE NUMBER 571 OF THE CITY OF GILROY PROVIDING FOR THE
ALTERATION OF THE BOUNDARIES OF 'rHE CITY OF GILROY BY THE ANNEXA-
TION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY THERETO, DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS "THE
FOURTH WESTERN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF GILROY", UNDER THE PROVI-
SIONS OF THE ANNEXATION ACT OF 1913, .~~D FOR THE INCORPORATION OF
SUCH ANNEXED TERRITORY IN AND AS A PART OF SUCH MINICIPALITY fu~D
FOR THE DISTRICTING, GOVERNMENT AND MUNICIPAL CONTROL OF SUCH
ANNEXED TERRITORY.
WHEREAS, proceedings for the annexation of certain
territory to the City of Gilroy contiguous thereto and designated
in the said proceedings as "The Fourth Western Addition to the
,::::i ty of Gilroy", the boundaries of which are more particularly
hereinafter described have been instituted under the provisions
of the Annexation Act of 1913; and
WHEREAS, a special election was duly called, noticed
and held as required by law on the 17th day of April; 1958, within
the said territory proposed to be so annexed to said City, at
which election there was submitted to the electors in said terri-
tory the proposition: Shall the Fourth Western Addition to the
City of Gilroy be annexed to the City of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy has
heretofore and on this 21st day of April, 1958, duly canvassed
the returns of said election and adopted a resolution and order
canvassing said returns and declaring the result of said election,
entered upon the minutes of the Common Council, from which it
appears that at said election there were 11 votes cast upon the
said proposition of annexation, of which 10 votes were cast in
favor of and for the annexation of said territory to the City of
Gilroy and 1 vote was cast against the said proposition and
against said annexation and that a majority of all the votes
cast in said election were in favor of the said proposition and

for the annexation of said territory to said ::::ity and that said
territory may now be so annexed to said ::::ity, and

the form and for the time required by law and said election
conducted as required by law, and all the said annexation pro-
ceedings were regular and in complBnce with law:

ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1: Under the authority of the Annexation Act
of 1913 as set forth in the Government i:ode, there shall be and
is hereby annexed to and incorporated within the said City of
Gilroy the said territory hereinbefore and in said annexation
proceedings designated as "'The Fourth ~"Iestern Addition of the
City of Gilroy", the boundaries of which annexed territory are
more particularly described as follows:
BEI~G a portion of Ranch Lot 16 as shown on Map No.7,
accompanying the report of the Referees in'the Las
Animas Rancho Partition Suit, Action No. 5536 had in
the Superior Court of the state of California, in and
for the County of Santa Clara, and being more particu-
larly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the
Southerly line of the Bodfish Mill Road (Hecker
Pass Highway) as shown on said Map, with the
easterly line of Miller Avenue, and running
thence along the southerly line of the Bodfish
Mill Road westerly 410.00 feet to the northerly
common corner of the lands of L. B. st. Clair
and Clark, et al;thence along the easterly line
of the lands of John Clar]<:, et al, s. 00 46 I 30 II
w. 773.03 feet, more or less, to the southeasterly
corner thereof in the northerly line of Tract No.
1232, Castlewood Pa~<:, Unit No. 2 as shown on the
map thereof recorded in Book 53 of Maps at pages
12 and 13, distant thereon N. 890 08' 30" W. 180.00
feet from the northeasterly corner thereof, being
the northwesterly corner of Tract No. 506, Castle-
wood Park, Unit No.1, Book 18 of Maps, page 40j
thence along the northerly line of said tract No.
506, Castlewood Park, Unit No. 1 and of said tract
No. 1232, Castlewood Pa~c Unit No. 2 and the
easterly projection of said line S. 890 08' 30" E.
410 feet to the easterly line of Miller Avenue;
thence along the easterly line of Miller Avenue
N. 00 46' 30" E. 773.03 feet, moreor less, to the
point of beginning, and
CONTAINING THEREIN 7.276 acres of said Ranch Lot 16.

and the annexation of said territory and lands to said City of
Gilroy is hereby approved 0
SECTION 2. The said lands hereby annexed to the city
of Gilroy shall be known as "The Fourth Western Addition to the
city of Gilroy", and the boundaries of the said City of Gilroy
shall be and are hereby altered so as to include said annexed
territoryo
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after the date of the filing of a duly certified
copy of this ordinance in the office of the Secretary of State.
ADOPTED and PASSED this 21st day of April, A.D., 1958,
by the following vote:
