ORDINANCE NO. -655
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING A
REVISION AND CODIFICATION OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
GILROY ENTITLED "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF GILROY, CALIFORNIA,
1960" PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES NOT
INCLUDED THEREIN WITH CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
HEREINAFTER SET OUT.
The Council of the City of Gilroy does ordain as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby adopted by the City Council
that certain Code entitled "The Code of the City of Gilroy,
California, 1960" containing certain ordinances of a general
and permanent nature as compiled, consolidated, codified and
indexed as chapters, 1 to 27, both inclusive, of which Code
not less than 3 copies have been and are now filed in the Office
of the City Clerk and which is hereby referred to and adopted
by reference as if incorporated and set out at length in this
ordinance.
Section 2. The provisions of such Code shall be in force
and effect and on and after thirty days from and after the
adoption and approval of this Ordinance, and all Ordinances of
a general and permanent nature in force on November 21, 1960,
and not contained in such Code are hereby repealed from and
after said thirty (30) day period has elapsed except as here-
inafter provided.
Section 3. The repeal provided for in the preceding
section of this Ordinance shall not affect any offense or
act committed or done or any penalty or forfeiture incurred
or any contract or right established or accruing before November
21, 1960; nor shall such repeal affect any Ordinance or Resolution
promising or guaranteeing the payment of money for the City
or authorizing the issue of any bonds of the City or any evidence
of the Cityts indebtedness or any contract or obligation
assumed by the City; nor shall such repeal affect the adminis-
trative ordinances or resolutions of the council not in conflict

or inconsistent with the provisions of such Code; nor shall it
affect the annual tax levy; nor shall it affect any right or
franchise conferred by ordinance or resolution of the city on
any person or corporation; nor shall it affect any ordinance
relating to the salaries of the officers or employees of the
city; nor shall it affect any ordinance annexing territory to
the city; nor shall it affect any ordinance naming, opening,
accepting or vacating streets or alleys in the City; nor shall
it affect any ordinance relating to zoning; nor shall it affect
Ordinance No. 390; passed March 20, 1933; regulating the construc-
tion raising, alteration, repair, removal, maintenance and use
of buildings used for theatrical, moving picture or operatic
uR-
pruposes, nor shall it affect any prosecution, suit or pro-
ceeding pending or any judgment rendered on or prior to effective
date of the ordinance; nor sha1~ it affect any ordinance passed
after November 21, 1960.
Section 4. That any violation of such Code, except as
otherwise provided, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding
five hundred dollars or imprisonment for a term not exceeding
six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
