Ordinance 660 ORDINANCE NO. 660 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CrTY OF GILROY FIXING tAX RATES FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1961RI962 WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance N9.659 fixing the amount of revenue from pr9perty taxes necessary to support Its depar~ ments for the current year 1961Rl962 and to pay the bonded and other inR debtedness of the City or any portion or dIstri~t of the CIty, and WHEREA$, SectIQn 51511 of the Government Code requires that the City LegIslatIve bod~ annually before September 1st fix the rate of taxes or rates of taxes If dIfferent portlqns or dIstricts requIre dIfferent rates, desIgnated In the number of cents upon each $100.00, usIng as a basis the value of the property as assessed and equalIzed, which rates shall b~ suffIcient to raise th~ amount fIxed by ordinance or resolution and the expenses of collection, and WHEREAS>> ~he City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 659 fixing the amount of r~venue requIred to support Its departments for the current year at the sum of $158,667.00, and to raise the said sum w111requIre a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $1.35 on property wIthIn the ortR gloal cIty limits and $1.34 in annexed terrItories nQW forming a part of the City, for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equalIzed and said rates should be adopted as the tax rates for saId current fIscal year. NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAfNED that the tax rates for the fiscal year 1961-1962 for the City of Gilroy shall be $1.35 on prop~rty wIthIn the original city limits and $1.34 on property In the annexed areas, for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equalized, and that there shall be Immediately transmItted to the County AudItor or County offIcIal pe~ forming the dutIes of a County Auditor, a statement of the tax rates as herein fixed. F9r the reason that Article VI of the GIlroy Charter provIdes that an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised for taxation or fixing the rate of taxatIon or levyIng the annual tax upQn property, need not be published and can be made effectIve immedIately upon -1'" (o~O ..
