ORD INANCE NO. 682
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING AMOUNT OF REVENUE FROM PRO-
PERTY TAXES NECESSARY TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY AND
TO PAY BONDED INDEBTEDNESS
WHEREAS, the duties of the Assessor and Tax Collector of the
City of Gilroy have hereto been transferred to the County Assessor
and County Tax Collecto~ respectively, of the County of Santa Clara
in accordance with Sections 51500 to 51518 of the Government Code: and
WHEREAS, Section 51508 of said Code requires that the legisla-
tive body of the City shall determine by ordinance or resolution,
prior to the fixing of the tax rate for the current year, the amount
of revenue from property taxes necessary to support its departments
for the current year and to pay the bonded or other indebtedness
of the City: and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy has not yet fixed
the tax rate for the year 1962-1963, but will do so following the
adoption of this ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the City of
Gilroy, as follows:
Section~. That the Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby
fix the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support
its departments for the current year, and to pay the bonded and
other indebtedness of the City or any portion or district of the
City, at the sum of $167,802.00.
Section~. For the reason that Article VI of the Gilroy
Charter provides that an ordinance declaring the amount of money
necessary to be raised for taxation or fixing the rate of taxation
or levying the annual tax upon property, need not be published and
can be made effective immediately upon adoption, this ordinance
shall take effect from and after its adoption and approval, and

there shall be no publication of this ordinance prior to adoption,
but the City Clerk shall cause at least the Title and summary of
this ordinance to be published once in the official newspaper of
the City within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
