ORDINANCE NO. 693 .
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMEND:iING SECTION
6.1 OF THE GILROY CITY CODE BY ADOPTING, WITH CERTAIN
EXCEPTIONS AND MODIFICATIONS, THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE, 1961 EDITION, VOLUME 1., AND THE APPENDIX THERETO
ADOPTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS,
AND REPEALING SEC. 6.3 OF SAID GmROY CITY CODE.
The Council of the City of Gilroy does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 6.1 of the Gilroy City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 6.1 Uniform Building Code -- Adopted~ exceptions
generally.
For the purpose of setting forth proper regulations for
the protection of public health and safety, regulating the
erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair,
moving, removal, conversion, demolition, occupancy, equip-
ment, use, height, area, and maintenance of buildings and
structures in the city~ providing for the issuance of
permits and collection of fees therefor~ declaring and
estavlishing fire districts~ providing penalties for the
violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances or parts
or ordinances in conflict therewith, the Uniform Building
Code, 1961 Edition, and the appendix thereto, sponsored by
the international Building Officials Conference, is hereby
adopted with the following exceptions and exclusions:
(1) The provisions of Ordinance 390 of the City shall
not be and are not altered, amended, changed or repealed
and shall remain in full force and effect, the same as though
this section was never adopted.
(2) The second paragraph of Section 205 of 'the Uniform
Building Code is not a part of this article, the same being
replaced by Section 6.5. of the Gilroy City Code.
SECTION 2. Sections 6.2, 6.4, and Section 6.5 of said
Gilroy City Code and Ordinances No. 573, and 664 shall not be affected
by this ordinance but are hereby re-adopted and made a part of this
ordinance with the exception that wherever in said ordinances and
Sections the expression "Uniform Building Code" is used it shall refer
to and mean the Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, Volume 1, and
the appendix thereto adopted by the International Conference of Build-
ing Officials as herein adopted as the Building Code of the City of
Gilroy.
SECTION 3. Section 6.3 of the Gilroy City Co'e is hereby
repealed.
SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force thirty (30) days from and after its adoption and approval.
