ORDINANCE NO. 705
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING SEC. 15.47 OF
THE GILROY CITY CODE BY ESTABLISHING AN ADDITIONAL STREET
INTERSECTION AT WHICH YIELD~~IGHT-OF-WAY SIGNS SHALL BE
PLACED AND MAINTAINED.
THE CCUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sec. 15.47 of the Gilroy City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 15.47. Same - Driver requirements at designated
intersections.
In accordance with the two preceding sections and when yield-
right-of-way signs are erected giving notice thereof, drivers
of vehicles shall yield the right of way at the entrance or
entrances of those intersections as follows:
1. On Fourth Street at the east and west entrances to
Rosanna Street, yielding the right of way to other ve-
hicles which have entered the intersection from Rosanna
Street as to constitute an immediate hazard.
2. On Fourth Street at the east and west entrances to
Church Street, yielding the right of way to other ve-
hicles which have entered the intersection from Church
Street or which are approaching so closely on Church
Street as to constitute an immediate hazard.
3. On Railroad Street at the north and south entrances
-to Martin Street, yielding the right of way to other
vehicles which have entered the intersection from Martin
Street or which are approaching so closely on Martin
Street as to constitute an immediate hazard.
4. On Walburn Avenue, north branch thereof, at the east
entrance to the intersection with the south branch of
such avenue yielding the right of way to other vehicles
which have entered the intersection from the southrranch
of Welburn Avenue or which are approaching so closely
on such branch on such street as to constitute an imme-
diate hazard.
5. On Rosanna Street at both north and south entrances
to Fifth Street yielding the right of way to other ve-
hicles which have entered the intersection or which are
approaching so closely on Fifth Street as to constitute
an immediate hazard.
The Chief Administrator of the City of Gilroy is hereby directed
to cause yield-right-of-way signs to be placed at all of the
above described intersection, where such signs have not been
heretofore erected.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict

herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The Council hereby declares that an emergency
exists requiring the immediate adoption and placing in effect of
this Ordinance and that the said emergency arises out of the fact
that the said intersection of Fifth and Rosanna Streets in the
. City of Gilroy as it exists prior to the adoption of this amendment
is dangerous to the drivers and occupants of motor vehicles and
pedestrians and that accidents have frequently occurred at said
intersection and that the adoption of this Ordinance will tend to
prevent further accidents, injury and/or deaths at the said inter-
section and should be made effective immediately for that reason
and therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its adoption and approval.
