Ordinance 725 rn ORDINANCE NO. 725 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING THE TAX RATES FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1964-1965. WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 724 fixing the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support its departments for the current year 1964-1965 and to pay the bonded and other indebtedness of the City or any portion or district of the City; and WHEREAS, Section 51511 of the Government Code requires that the City Legislative body annually before September 1st fix the rate of taxes or rates of taxes if different portions or districts require different rates, designated in the number of cents upon each $100.00, using as a basis the value of the pro- perty as assessed and ~qualized, which rates shall be sufficient to raise the amount fixed by ordinance or resolution and the expenses of collection; and WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 724 fixing the amount of revenue required to support its departments for the current year at the sum of $194,466.00, and to raise the said sum will require a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $1.35 on property within Code areas No. 2-000 and 2-006 and $1.34 in Code areas No. 2-001,2-002,2-004 and 2-005, for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equalized and said rates should be adopted as the tax rates for said current fiscal year, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the tax rates for the fiscal year 1964-65 for the City of Gilroy shall be $1.35 on property within said Code Areas No. 2-000 and 2-006 and $1.34 on property in said Code Areas No. 2-001, 2-002, 2-004 and 2-005, for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equalized, and that there shall be immediately transmitted to the County Auditor or County official performing the duties of a County Auditor, a statement of the tax rates as herein fixed. For the reason that Article VI of the Gilroy Charter provides that an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised for taxa- tion or fixing the rate of taxation or levying the annual tax upon property, need -1- ~s !X111 not be published and can be made effective immediately upon adoption, this ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption and approval, but the City Clerk shall cause at least the Title and summary of this ordinance to be publ ished once in the official newspaper of the City within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
