ORDINANCE NO. 797
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY APPROVING AND
ADOPTING OFFICIAL PLAN LINES FOR THE NORTHERLY
EXTENSION OF CHESTNUT STREET FROM LEWIS STREET
TO LEAVESLEY ROAD.
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy has
heretofore proposed that Plan Lines be established for the norther-
ly extension of Chestnut Street from Lewis Street to Leavesley Road
in accordance with and as shown upon a map prepared by the City
Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk entitled "Official
Plan Line Map for North Chestnut Street, Lewis Street to Leavesley
Road, Dated, April, 1967" and has held a public hearing upon said /
proposal after giving due notice thereof in accordance with law and
has made its report to the Council recommending adoption of said
Official Plan Lines as proposed; and
WHEREAS, the said Council did heretofore fix Monday, the 15th
day of May, 1967, at the hour of 8:00 olclock PM., in the Council
Chambers in the City Hall at No. 10 South Rosanna Street, Gilroy,
California, as the time and place for holding the hearing upon said
report and recommendation and said Council finds that the establish-
ment of said Official Plan Lines constitutes a reasonable' and proper
exercise of the Police power possessed by the City of Gilroy and
tends to preserve the public health, add to the safety from fire and
enhance the public welfare and that therefore the said Official Plan
Lines should be adopted as a part of the Circulation Element of the
GeriercH Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF' GILROY DOES ORDAIN
AF FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the said report and recommendation of the said
Planning Commission proposing the adoption of said Plan Lines be
and the same is hereby approved and the said Plan Lines as shown upon

the said map above referred to,designated as "Official Plan Line
Map for North Chestnut Street, Lewis street to Leavesley Road,
Dated, April, 1967" are hereby approved and adopted as the Offi-
cial Plan Lines for the Northerly Extension of Chestnut Street
as a part of the Circulation Element of the General Plan for the
City of Gilroy.
Section 2. That the said Map heretofore referred to together
with all data and information indicated thereon is hereto attached,
marked EXHIBIT "A" and incorporated herein and is made a part of
this Ordinance.
Section 3. A copy of this Ordinance duly certified as such
by the City Clerk shall be delivered to the Santa Clara County
Planning Commission and the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of
Santa Clara County.
THIS ORDINANCE shall take effect and be in full force thirty
days from and after its adoption and approval.
