ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING SEC.
23.7 OF THE GILROY CITY CODE RELATING TO PARK-
ING OR STOPPING OF TAXICABS, RENT CARS AND
SCHOOL BUSES IN THE CITY OF GILROY BY INCLUD-
ING AN AUTHORIZATION TO STOP OR PARK TAXICABS
IN AN UNMARKED CROSSWALK AND IN FRONT OF A
PUBLIC OR PRIVATE DRIVEWAY TO LOAD OR UNLOAD
PASSENGERS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I:
Sec. 23.7 of the Gilroy City Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
SEC. 23.7 PARKING.
It shall be unlawful for the owner, driver or operator
of any taxicab or rent car to allow such taxicab or
rent car to remain parked while awaiting employment,
except in a regularly established taxicab or rent car
stand; provided, however, that taxicabs, rent cars and
school buses may park in any available parking space
when actually engaged in loading or unloading passen-
gers and may park or stop in an unmarked crosswalk or
in front of a public or private driveway, for a period
not in excess of two consecutive minutes to load or
unload passengers; and, provided further, that between
the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following
day, taxicabs, rent cars or school buses may stop,
stand or park in any place where the parking of vehicles
is otherwise permitted. (Ord. No. 450, 815).
SECTION II:
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION III:
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty
(30) days from and after its adoption and approval.
This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the
Counc il of the City of Gilroy held on the 17th day of July, 1967
and ordered published by title and sum~ary and was finally adopted
at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
7th day of
August, 1967, by the following vote:
