ORDINANCE NO. 862
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY BY PREZONING 1.488 ACRES AS
C-1, SAID PROPERTY BEING PART OF A PROPOSED
ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF GILROY
WHEREAS, the application has heretofore been made by
R. T. GREEN, agent for UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA, to the
Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy for the prezoning
of 1.488 acres as C-1 (Neighborhood Commercial) District for
property hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy
has given due notice of a public hearing upon the said
application, in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Gilroy, has held the hearing, and has made its report
to the Council of the City of Gilroy, in which it recommends
that the 1.488 acres hereinafter described be prezoned as C-l
(Neighborhood Commercial) District; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy has fixed the
21st day of July, 1969, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. in
the Council Chambers in the City Hall at No. 10 South Rosanna
Street, Gilroy, California, as the time and place for hearing
the said report and recommendation upon the said application,
and notice of the said hearing has been given in accordance with
the said Zoning Ordinance, and a public hearing has been
continued to the 22nd day of July, 1969, and has now been held
upon the said application before the Council, and the Council
having duly considered the said application and the evidence
presented, and has determined that the said Zoning Ordinance
should be amended in accordance with the report of the said
Planning Commission,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Zoning Ordinance of the City of Gilroy
is hereby amended by pre zoning to become effective upon
annexation and placing in C-1 District, as the same is described
and defined in the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Gilroy,
the following described premises:
All that certain real property located in the County of
Santa Clara, State of California, described as follows:
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the center
line of Whitehurst Avenue (40.00 feet in width), with
the Northwesterly line of Leaves1ey Road (60.00 feet in
width), as said Avenue and Road are shown upon the Map
above referred to; thence from said point of beginning
North 250 20' West along said center line of Whitehurst
Avenue for a distance of 270.00 feet; thence North 640
40' East and parallel with the said Northwesterly line
of Leaves1ey Road for a distance of 240.00 feet; thence
South 250 20' East and parallel with said center line
of Whitehurst Avenue for a distance of 270.00 feet to a
point in the said Northwesterly line of Leaves1ey Road;
thence South 640 40' West along said Northwesterly line
of Leaves1ey Road for a distance of 240.00 feet to the
point of beginning. P>/<;
CONTAINING 1.488 acres
Section 2: The official map constituting a part of the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Gilroy shall be amended to
reflect the foregoing changes of classification of the said
property.
Section 3: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage and
approval, and upon annexation of said property to the City
of Gilroy.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of August, 1969, by the
