ORDINANCE NO. 989
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING
SECTION 15.43 OF THE GILROY CITY CODE
DESIGNATING THROUGH STREETS IN THE CITY OF
GILROY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Section 15.43 of the Gilroy City Code
designating through streets is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 15.43. Same - Designation.
The following named streets are hereby designated as
"through streets":
1. Carmel Street, from First Street to Sixth Street.
2. Chestnut Street, from Sixth Street to Luchessa
Avenue, except at its intersections with Old Gilroy Street and
Tenth Street.
3. Church Street, from the north city limits to the
south city limits except at its intersections with Welburn
Avenue, First Street, Sixth Street and Tenth Street.
4. First Street, from Monterey Street to the west
city limits.
5. Forest Street, from I.O.O.F. Avenue to Old Gilroy
Street except at its intersection with Sixth Street.
6. Leavesley Road, from Monterey Street to the east
city limits.
7. Luchessa Avenue, from Monterey Street to the east
city limits.
8. Miller Avenue, from First Street to the south city
limits.
9. Monterey Street, from the north city limits to the
south city limits.
10. Morey Avenue, from First Street to the north city
limits.
11. Murray Avenue, from I.O.O.F. Avenue to the north
city limits except at its intersection with Leavesley Road.
12. Old Gilroy Street, from Monterey Street to the 101
Freeway.
13. Princevalle Street, from Sixth Street to Tenth Street.

14. Second Street, from Monterey Street to Hanna Street
except at its intersection with Church Street.
15. Seventh Street, from Monterey Street to Church Street.
16. Sixth Street, from the east city limits to Miller
Avenue except at its intersections with Monterey Street and Church
Street.
17. Tenth Street, from the east city limits to the west
city limits except at the intersection with Monterey Street.
18. Third Street, from Monterey Street to the west city
limits except at its intersections with Church Street, Carmel
Street, Miller Avenue and Westwood Drive.
19. Wayland Lane, from Welburn Avenue to First Street.
20. Welburn Avenue, from Monterey Street to Wren Avenue.
21.
Wren Avenue, from First Street to the north city
limits.
22. Westwood Drive, from First Street to its southern
terminus except at its intersection with Third Street. (Ord. No.

SECTION II. All other ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section III. This is an Emergency Ordinance which shall
take effect immediately upon its passage and approval. The facts
and circumstances giving rise to the emergency are as follows:
Hazardous traffic conditions exist on the newly
designated through streets, and for public safety,
arterial stop signs should be installed immediately
as required on all intersecting streets.
This Ordinance was introduced as an emergency measure and
passed and adopted to become effective immediately and ordered
published by title and summary in accordance with provisions of
the City Charter at a regular session of the City Council held
on the 2nd day of July, 1973, by the following vote:
