Ordinance 1006 ORDINANCE NO. 1006 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING SECTIONS 68.l0(b)(2) AND 68.l0(d) OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT LARGER SIGNS ON BUILDINGS SET BACK MORE THAN 75 FEET IN Cl DISTRICTS AND APPROVAL BY THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF MASTER SHOPPING CENTER SIGNS. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy has given due notice of a public hearing upon the proposed amendment in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Gilroy, has held the hearing, and has made its report to the Council of the City of Gilroy, in which it recommends that Sec- tions 68.l0(b)(2) and 68.l0(d) of the Zoning Ordinance be amended to permit larger signs on buildings set back more than 75 feet in a Cl district and approval by the architectural and site approval committee of master shopping center signs; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy has fixed the 21st day of January, 1974, at the hour of 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall at 7390 Rosanna Street, Gilroy, California, as the time and place for hearing the said report and recommendation upon the proposed amendments, and due notice of the said hearing has been given in accordance with the said Zoning Ordinance, and a public hearing has now been held upon the said application, at the time and place fixed in the said notice, before the Council, and the Council having duly considered the proposed amendment and the evidence presented, and has determined that the Zoning Ordinance should be amended in accordance with the report of the said Plann- ing Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The last paragraph of Section 68.l0(b)(2) of the Zoning Ordinance shall be amended as follows: The maximum permitted sign area in the Neighborhood Commercial District shall be 75 square feet for each building elevation fronting on a street or alley used by the occupant, with - 1 - ORDINANCE NO. 1006 ,,,,,,,,,'.h",~~,;,,,,"",,,,,,,,"".. l/(lll ~ito<. 1:", _'~"""""~'"""""""""'''''''"_''''''''''''''""--",",,,,,,,,_''''''.A......_,_,,,,,,,,_.,,,,....,,,"<".,~~<,._,.._"^."...*,..".,..",,,,:,,;;:,,,,,,',,,';,""_f,,...,^.,,~"."..;".". _._"'",",......,'-"',,.....''"_.~~''',..,>- an additional one-half square foot of sign area allowed for each one foot of building set back from the property line in excess of 75 feet, up to a maximum sign area of 150 square feet. Section 2: The first paragraph of Section 68.10 (d) of the Zoning Ordinance be amended as follows: Sec. 68.l0(d) - Master shop{>ing center sign or group sign shall be perm~tted if there are at least four occupants in a building or shopping center and may be permitted in addition to the maximum area of signing permitted under section 68.10(d) subject to securing approval of the Architectural and Site Approval Committee. Section 3: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage and appro- val.
