~l ORDIi~ANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING SECTION
6~6 OF THE GILROY CITY CODE REI~TING TO FENCES
TiiE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Section 6.6 of the Gilroy City Code is amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 6.6 Location and height,
No fence shall be constructed, erected or placed upon any
property having a residential usage within the city except as
follows:
a) Along any alley the height of a fence shall not
exceed seven feet from the ground.
b)
From the rear property line to the front setback
line, as established by the Zoning Ordinance, the
height of the fence shall not exceed six feet~
c)
Along the side yard street line of a-corner lot, a
six (6) foot fence can be built within 35 feet from
the front property line; except when the corner lot
backs upon an alley or a key lot, as defined by the
Zoning Ordinance~
Along the side yard street line of a corner lot which
backs upon an alley or a key lot, the fence shall not
exceed three (3) feet within the required ten foot side
yard setback as established by the Zoning Ordinance.
e)
In all other cases, a fence shall not exceed three
feet in height.
f)
In all cases, a fence shall not be placed or con-
structed closer than twelve inches from the existing
or future street right of way line.
Any person who wishes to construct a fence contrary to the
provisions of this article must first obtain permission from
the Architectural and Site Approval Committee as provided in
the Zoning Ordinance.
SECTION II: Ail other ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full

force thirty (30) days from and after its adoption and approval.
