Ordinance 1976-14ORDINANCE NO. 76- 14 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING AMOUNT OF REVENUE FROM PROPERTY TAXES NECESSARY TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTM. ENTS OF THE CITY AND TO PAY BONDED OR OTHER INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF GILROY OR ANY PORTION OM DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF GILROY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1976-1977. WHEREAS, the duties of the Assessor and Tax Collector of the City of Gilroy have hereto been transferred to the County Assessor and County Tax Collector, respectively, of the County of Santa Clara in accordance with Sections 51500 to 51518 of the Government Code; and ~HEREAS, Section 51508 of said Code requires that the Legislative body of the City shall determine by ordinance or reso- lution, prior to the fixing of the tax rate for the current year, the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support its departments for the current year and to pay the bonded or other indebtedness of the City or any portion of the City; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Gilroy has not yet fixed the tax rate for the 1976-1977 Fiscal Year, but will do so following the adoption of this ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby fix the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support its departments for the current year, and to pay the bonded and other indebtedness of the City with the exception of the City of Gilroy Parking District Mo. 1 - First Division, and the City of Gilroy Parking District No, 1 - Second Division, at the sum of $741,570.00. Section 2. That the Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby fix the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of Gilroy Parking District ORDINANCE NO. 76 - 14 -1- No. 1 - First and Second Divisions, at the sum of $13,870.00. Section 3. For the reason that Article VI of the Gilroy Charter provides that an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised for taxation or fixing the rate of taxa- tion or levying the annual tax upon property, need not be publish- ed and can be made effective immediately upon adoption, this ordin- ance shall take effect from and after its adoption and approval, and there shall be no publication of this ordinance prior to adop- tion, but the City Clerk shall cause at least the title and sum- mary of this ordinance to be published once in the official news- paper of the City within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
