Ordinance 1979-22ORDINANC~ NO. 79 - 22 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING THE AD VALOREM ASSESS~NT FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR t979-1980 NECESSARY TO PAY BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF GILROY AND THE CITY OF GILROY PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1 - FIRST AND SECOND DIVISIONS. WHEREAS, the City CoUncil has adopted Ordinance No. 79 - 21 fixing the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary in the current year 1979-1980, to pay the bonded and other indebted- ness of the City or any portion or district of the City; and WHEREAS, Section 515i]. of the Government Code requires that the City Legislative body annually before September 1st, fix the rate of taxes or rates taxes if different portions or dis- tricts require different rat~s, designated in the number of cents upon each $100.00, using as a basis the value of the property as assessed and equalized, which rates shall be sufficient to raise the amount fixed by ordinance or resolution and the expenses of collection,' and WHEREAS, the City CoCncil has adopted Ordinance No. 79 - 21 , fixing the amount of revenue to pay for its Bonded Indebted- ness for the current year atlthe sum of $99,477.00 and to raise the said sum will require a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $.109 for each $100.00 va~ue of property as assessed and equalized and said rates should be adopted as the tax rates for said current fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the City CoUncil has also adopted in said Ord- inance No. 79 - 21 the fixediamount of revenue, in the amount of $11,446.00, required by the City of Gilroy Parking District No. 1 - First and Second Divisions to pay its bonded indebtedness, ORDINANCE NO. 79 - 22 -1- ! and to raise said sum will r~qUire a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $2.84 on land|only within said district which is Code area No. 2-007, for eact equalized and said rate shou] said current fiscal year; NOW, THEREFORE, BE I% ~100.00 value on land assessed and d be adopted as the tax rate for ORDAIN that the tax rates for the fiscal year 1979-1980 fo~ the City of Gilroy shall be as fol- lows: Section 1. That the' tax rate shall be $.109 for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equalized. Section 2. Assessm~nt LeVy. For the!reason that Article VI of the Gilroy Charter provides that an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised for taxation or fixing the rate of taxa- tion or levying the annual tax upon property, need not be pub- lished and can be made effec¢ive immediately upon adoption, this ordinance shall take effect ~rom and after its adoption and ap- proval, but the City Clerk shall cause at least the title and surr~ary of this ordinance to be published once in the official newspaper of the City within i fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
