Ordinance 1980-27 ORDINANCg NO. 80 - 27 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING THE AD VALOREM ASSESS- MENT FOR THE CURRENT FISCALiYEAR 1980-1~8~ NECESSARY TO PAY BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE ~ITY OF GILROY AND THE CITY OF GIL- ROY PAP~ING DISTRICT NO. 1 ~ FIRST AND SECOND DIVISIONS. WHEREAS, the City ~ouncil has adopted Ordinance No. 80 - 26 fixing the amount o~ revenue from property taxes neces- sary in the current year 191 indebtedness of the City or and WHEREAS, Section 51 t0-1981 to pay the bonded and other any portion or district of the City; [511 of the Government Code requires that the City Legislative b~dy annually before September 1st, fix the rate of taxes or rates of taxes if different portions or districts require differentirates, designated in the number of cents upon each $100.00, using as a basis the value of the prop- erty as assessed and equalized, which rates shall be sufficient to raise the amount fixed b? ordinance or resolution and the expenses of collection; and! I,~EREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 80- 26, fixing the amount of revenue to pay for its Bonded Indebted- ness for the current year at the sum of $54,781.00 and to raise the said sum will require altax rate for the current fiscal year of $.06 for each $100.00 value of property as assessed and equali- zed and said rates should b~ adopted as the tax rates for said current fiscal year; and ~ WHEREAS, the City Council has also adopted in said Ord- inance No. 80 -26 the fixed amount of revenue, in the amount of $12,032.00, required by the 1 - First and Second Divisi~ City of Gilroy Parking District No. ins to pay its bonded indebtedness, ORDINANCE NO. 80 - 27 -1- and to raise said sum will ~equire a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $2.83 on lan only within said district which is Code area No. 2-007, for ear,hi $100.00 value on land assessed and equalized and said rate sho~l~ be adopted as the tax rate for said current fiscal year; NOW, THEREFORE, BEFIT ORDAINED that the tax rates for the fiscal year 1980-1981 f~r the City of Gilroy shall be as follows: Section 1. Said assessment sh~Lll be collected in the same manner and be subject to the same penalties, costs and interest, and may be redeemed, and the property sold for non-oayment thereof, and title shall pass to theipurchaser, as provided for City taxes, except that the period of redemption shall be one year instead ORDINANCE NO. 80 - 27 -2- of five. s'ection 3. That ~here shall be immediately trans- mitted to the County Auditor or County official performing the duties of a County Auditor, a statement of the tax rates as herein fixed. Section ~4. For the reason that Article VI of the Gilroy Charter provides tha~ an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised for taxation or fixing the rate of taxation or levying the annual tax upon property, need not be published and can be mad~ effective immediately upon adoption, this ordinance shall take e~fect from and after its adoption and approval, but the City Clerk shall cause at least the title and summary of this ordinanee to be published once in the o£fi- cial newspaper of the City Within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
