AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROYAMENDING
SECTION 18.5(i) OF THE GILROY CITY CODE
PROHIBITING FIREARMS, EXPLOSIVES AND FIREWORKS
IN PARKS WITHOUT A PERMIT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Section 18.5(i) of the Gilroy City Code
is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 18.5.Conduct; acts prohibit, ed~ No person in a park shall
(i) Bring into, nor have in his possession,
nor set off, fire or discharge any
firearm, weapon, pellet gun, explosive
or fireworks without prior written
permission of the director.
SECTION II. Ail other ordinances and parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III. This is an Emergency Ordinance which
shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval. The
facts and circumstances giving rise to the emergency are as
follows:
The Civil War Association has consented to re-
enact a battle demonstration with authentic
uniforms, weapons and artillery on June 12, 1983
in Christmas Hill Park during Gilroy Bonanza
Days. This emergency amendment is necessary to
allow a timely legal permit for this educational
historic demonstration.
This Ordinance was introduced as an emergency measure
and passed and adopted to become effective immediately and
ordered published by title and summary in accordance with provisions
of the City Charter at a regular session of the City Council held
on the 6th day of June, 1983, by the following vote:
