AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING
SECTION 19,98 AND ENACTING SECTION 19.9 OF THE GILROY
CODE PERTAINING TO SEWAGE TREATMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Section 19.98 is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 19.~98.
Discharge to natural outlets.
It shall be unlawful to discharge to any natural
outlet any sanitary sewage, industrial wastes, petroleum
products, coal tar, or any refuse substance from any
residential, commercial, industrial or institutional
establishments.
The director of public works shall require that
unpolluted or uncontaminated cooling or other process
water be discharged to a natural outlet, or that it be
separated from sanitary or industrial wastes.
SECTION II. Section 19.9 is enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 19.9.
Plans, design standards and inspection of
sewerage construction.
Plans for sewerage construction shall meet all
design requirements of the Standard Details, Public
Works Department Manual and shall also meet the design
requirements as established from time to time by the
Director of Public Works.
Inspection of all sewerage construction shall be
made by the City in the manner described in Standard
Specifications for Public Works Construction (commonly
referred to as the "Green Book"). Maximum allowable
infiltration/exfiltration shall be as determined in
Section 306-1,4 Testing Pipelines section of the "Green
Book".
SECTION III. Ail other ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION IV, This ordinance shall take effect and
be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its
adoption and approval,
