AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING
SECTION 27.40 OF THE GILROY CITY CODE SO AS TO
IMPOSE LIENS ON PROPERTY FOR UNPAID WATER BILLS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section I. Section 27.40 of the Gilroy City Code is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 27.40. Service char~es to be a lien a~ainst
property;, owner to be primarily liable.
The owner of any premises served by water after
October 1, 1988 shall be primarily responsible for the payment
of all water bills arising out of the use of such water at such
premises, or by any lessee or tenant occupying or using the
same. Such charges shall constitute a perpetual and continuing
lien on such property until such water bill shall have been paid
in full. No water will be furnished to any property until such
water bill shall have been paid in full. No water will be fur-
nished to any property or premises against which any charge remains
unpaid.
Section II. Ail other ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section III. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force thirty (30) days from and after its adoption and approval.
