AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY ADDING ARTICLE XI TO CHAPTER 15 OF
THE GILROY CITY CODE, REGULATING AND REQUIRING
PERMITS FOR AMBULANCE SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Emergency Medical Services Act ("the Act"),
California Health & Safety Code Sections 1797 and following,
require the County of Santa Clara to plan, implement, and evaluate
all components of the local emergency medical services system; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of this duty the County Board of
Supervisors has adopted and codified an ordinance as Chapter XVI
of Division Al8 of the Santa Clara County Ordinance Code, estab-
lishing compehensive regulations and a permitting process for
ground and air ambulance services operating within the County ("the
County Ordinance"); and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Supervisors may only adopt
ordinances governing the unincorporated portions of the County, but
adoption of the County Ordinance by the City of Gilroy and all
other Cities within the County will enable the County more fully
to meet its obligations under the Act;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROYDOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I
Article XI is hereby added to Chapter 15 of the Gilroy
City Code as follows:
ARTICLE XI. AMBU~CE PERMIT8
Sec. 15.130. ~mhulance services; permits and regulation.
Chapter XVI of Division Al8 of the Santa Clara County Ordi-
nance Code, as now exists or may hereafter be amended, relating to
permits and regulation of ground and air ambulance services, shall
apply in the City of Gilroy.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
thirty days from and after its adoption and approval.
