Ordinance 2001-06 ORDINANCE NO. 2001-6
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING SECTION II(3) OF
ORDINANCE NO. 2000-18 REGARDING THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS OF
THE CITY OF GILROY YOUTH COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Gilroy established a Youth Commission to
provide the City's youth with an opportunity to address issues affecting youth and all Gilroy
residents by adoption of Ordinance No. 2000-18; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Commission in its Bylaws has recommended that its members
should serve a term of two years rather than one year, and that said term should commence in
September rather than in January; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Bylaws with the above-described changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I
Section II (3) of Ordinance No. 2000-18 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Terms of members appointed to the Commission shall commence in September of a
given year and shall be for a term of two (2) years, unless a member is appointed to fill a
vacancy in an unexpired term. In that case, the newly appointed member shall serve until
the expiration of the term of the original appointee.
SECTION II
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after the date of its
passage and adoption.
